Fantastic Fun For Finland!

Finland, how to describe the city of Helsinki and surrounding area ….. First off, Beautiful. The city itself is beautiful. Lots of greenery, very clean, cobble stone streets, old (maybe victorianish?) style buildings, no skyscrapers. For a capital and largest city, it had a small town feel. Well until they won gold in hockey, but I’ll get to that later. Another word that comes to mind would be Friendly. This applies to the people and the warm feel of the environment.

Lets get into some of the more important stuff. Foood? Oh to have variety again! My belly was a very very happy camper. Im not sure if Finland really has a type of food specific to them. A few dishes, one being Karelian Pasty/Pie. It’s kind of a thin crust filled with rice then would be smothered in eggbutter. They do eat lots of fish, moose, cheese, breads, oh and Reindeer! And yes for all wondering, I did try a little piece of Rudolph’s butt, and it was quite lovely, tasted kind of like pepperoni. Haha. Aside from that, it was nice to be back in a kitchen and do some of the cooking. Lots of salmon, cheese, bread, veggies, and fresh fruit were consumed. Even a little bit of sushi, though very expensive compared to back home. Now being back on the island it’s time to lose that weight! Awwww…..

To keep these updates to a readable length I’m going to do it in a couple of installments. So this is #1.
