adminSo leaving the comfort of my temporary home in Broome, I once again journey out to the unknown. Knowing its “wet season”, My trek is expected to see closed roads, flooded crossings, Rain, Rain, Rain….
Just like most things disappointment, well so far… Most 4WD roads are closed, all the cool things to see in the area are closed, secluded pristine swimming holes that I hike to are closed off from swimming due to Crocs who want to eat me in the “wet”, and yet I do get any of the benefits. Raging water falls? Nope. Rushing rivers? Nope. Everything is closed yet there is no water. Lame… I haven’t even seen one good storm yet…. Boring…. I want a Cyclone! (Yes mom I’ll be safe in the Cyclone)
Either way I’ve made it to Darwin. Been through Kakadu National Park. Apparently AMAZING….. My rendition….. REVENGE OF NATURE. It’s a lovely park and when it is all open in the dry season there is loads more to see. Just “wet season” has closed most of the park off due to increased floods and Croc infestations. The worst part of it all, something as small as a fly. Though it would be ok if it was “A” fly, but it was not. The minute you stepped outside the car/tent, no less than 10 on your face and another 10 on your body. In your eyes, ears, nose, mouth, it is insanity. I had to go as far as wearing a mesh net over my head to prevent them access into my body. If I had a electric fly swatter there would have been fly Genocide, GENOCIDE!!! So seeing nature through a bag on your head just takes away from the beauty.
Either way I’ll plug on … because being a bum can be difficult too …..
