Nature fix

The trek from Darwin to Alice Springs has brought better experiences than the journey to Darwin. Its been a long drive but some notable stops have been recorded in between.

It starts in Darwin seeing the “Croc Zoo”. This was my first encounter with the all mighty and feared beast of Oz. Big beasts of the prehistoric kind, is all I can use to describe these mighty animals. Though the feeding and enclosures seemed small for these large reptiles, it was a good first encounter. It was not just the Crocs that got the spotlight, these critters did too:

From there was to Litchfield National Park and the Jumping Crocodile Tour. Litchfield NP seems to be in the shadow of Kakadu NP, but I’m sure for not much longer. This is what I call a National Park. Ideal waterfalls, picturesque swimming holes, and best of all, few flys! Hikes Galore and Nature, nature, nature.

Along the way, time was taken to do the Jumping Croc Boat Tour. This is croc’s in their natural habitat, though still a little trained. This cruise takes you down a river, with crocs swimming from the banks to your boat, in return for a little treat. These are wild crocs that don’t depend on this food but know when to come for a little snack, so keep all hands, feet, and heads in the boat! Even the birds of pray get involved.

Along the rest of the trek toward Alice Springs, a few eccentric roadhouses are a nice way to break up the drive….
