East Coasting

Now heading from the Center to the east coast was one more long journey to add to the many already had. Though slowly as the miles drew shorter, the land changed. Slowly the ground wasn’t so red, the shrubs grew, grass sprouted. Green became the colour of the land, trees became taller and fuller, then the smell of the ocean broke free. Ahhh, water, how I missed you.

Starting in Townsville and heading up toward Cape Tribulation, the dry dirt and large rocks were I was use to seeing were traded for forest and beaches. I literally went from dessert to jungle. Well rainforest to be exact. Daintree National Park, apparently the oldest rainforest in the world. Bugs became larger, birds more abundant, as the sun was blocked out by the canopy of trees. Even the flies dissipated, though sadly they were replaced by mozzies, HUNGRY mozzies.

So presuming I don’t have Dengue brewing in me as we speak. I have enjoyed the beaches and whirl back into a nature I’m more familiar with. From here on in, heading down the east coast, I believe it’ll be mostly city life. The beaches will still be there, but the people more abundant and the hustle and bustle of “real life” more present.

  1. Don’t be licking those frogs too much, they’ll make you go blind. 😉
