Dive Day 2

Dive Day 2:

Today was quite interesting on many levels. Realized I was stinky, saw some real sweet things and almost died. (Hook, Line, and Sinker) I’ll start from the beginning.
The morning comes around like any other day, pack up all our gear, grab the diving gear, hop on the boat. We’re staying at Mabul! Mabul is an Island off of Semporna, about an hours boat ride. The dive company has a little resort on it with posh huts to live on, 3 square meals a day, and beach galore. It’s about 4 times what you would pay for a hostel in town but thats not saying much, it’s still only 80rm, which is like not even 30 bucks Can. If I had known about this place earlier there would be no rat infested stay like the last 2 nights. So to sum it all up, This place is SWEAT!
So Dive no.1 for the day was the “Deep Dive” 30m/100ft. There is something to be said about dropping down a coral wall that is a shear wall, looking down and seeing the wall dissapear into the deep dark blue. Aint gonna say it isn’t creepy cuz it’s creepy. Another odd experience was the fact there was a drift/current. So when resuming our trek you just hover and the drift drags you along with it. Like the turtles in “Finding Nemo”. It’s like if you were hovering in the same spot while someone moves the ocean wall around you, as if a vendor showing you his merchandise. Everywhere you look there is life and movement all around you. The Ocean is a really busy but peaceful place. At one point in the dive I look up and see a turtle coming out of a hole literally no more than 5 ft from my face! This turtle was about the size of my torso and head. Truely amazing.
Dive no.2 was one I was looking forward too. Underwater Photography. WHOLEY Gebus that is hard. It is finally a time where I can capture everything I see, yet to do so I need to pay way more attention to EVERYTHING. Proper lighting, trying to get close to the specimen, hovering perfectly still as to get a clean shot, not crashing into things while i’m trying to take a picture, still checking on my air supply and depth, all while searching for the perfect shot. HARD MAN!!
Dive no.3 Death dive. dun Dun DUN! ahaha kinda but not really. The just of it. I ran outta air. ahaha for some odd reason I burned through air like a donkey jumping on a trampoline…… yup just like that. I am the one who alwayz has the most air left at the end of the dive. This time for an odd odd reason it was all gone before you knew it. Well I knew it and was close to the instructor to let him know. So I sucked his air for the next 5-7 min while we surfaced. All I can say is Fun STUFF LET”S Do IT AgaiN! Now off to the beach to cancer myself!

P.S. If your wondering about the stinky, upon boarding the boat, having not showered for a bit over 24 hours and being constantly sweaty, I smelt like a race that doesn’t know about deoderent. I’ll say no more. Time for me to put some on.
