Are Dragons Real?

Yes. Do they fly? Helllll no. The expensive trip out to Komodo, and its surrounding islands proved one thing. Dinosaurs do exist, and never believe what you see on tv (even documentary’s). They say that the Komodo Dragon, the largest lizard alive, lives only on Komodo Island. Fact is that they can be found not only on Komodo but the near by Islands of Rinca and west Flores.

What is true though, is that they are big, the biggest actually. I believe that. Going to visit I was thinking they would be a bit bigger than the Large Monitor Lizards I’ve seen, which was maybe 1.5m in length, lots of it tail though. Then I was amazed at how big they were. Those might as well be geckos. Komodo dragons are just huge, all around. I would almost compare them to crocodiles rather than a lizard. No wonder they have no known predators. Well other than T-Rex maybe.

Aside from visiting the monsters, I’ve heard amazing things about diving Komodo. Expensive, yes. Beautiful, yes. Dangerous, so they say. I’m not sure what kind of aura follows me, but “I have the Power!” to change the world. Everywhere, and I mean Everywhere I go, all I hear is “it’s not usually like this.  Weird.  It’s usually ….”. Komodo is known for the stunning beauty brought on only by the converging currents. Currents are “suppose” to be extremely ramped around these parts. My encounter, None. Sigh. Just another day in my life.

I’m now on the Gili Islands, where bikini’s are more plentiful than beaches,  and there are a LOT of beaches. Just doing more diving.  This is the part of the trip I LOVE, and my wallet HATES. Can’t we all just get along?
