Angkor Whaaaat?

Cambodia’s hidden treasure Angkor Wat, also know as the 8th wonder of the world, is what brings most to Cambodia. “The Temples of Angkor” as they are referred to, are a numerous amount of temples, some dating back to the 900’s. The two most famous are Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom. Angkor Thom made famous by the sexy Angelina Jolie in the  “Tomb Raider” movie.  Most now in ruins, give only a glimpse of what the kingdoms use to be in their former glory.

Spending 3 days and seeing every temple in the known area, I can officially say, “I can care less if I see another temple in my life.” I’ve seen the best, who cares about the rest. Right? Also seeing them all I can also pick “the best” of them all. Most would say “that has to be Angkor Wat, No?” It is by far the most famous, as well the largest of all the temples in Cambodia, in my opinion though by no means the best. Plus restorations are going on for most of the temples, and especially for Angkor Wat, the green tarp kind of takes away from the appeal.

My favorite by far was the “face temple”, real name, Bayon I think. I didn’t really pay attention to the name, I was too busy being creeped out by always having eyes on me. You couldn’t have done anything wrong in this temple, your always being watched! Wicked cool! Oh and Appreciate the photo’s with no tourists in them. I had to wait LONG periods of time to get them.

  1. Whoa that place is crazy.

And I dono why but the first thing I thought of was that would be a wicked place to play paintball (if it were possible not to make a mess that is).

  2. Yo Chank, glad to see that you are infusing your trip with some culture. Boring as it is. The guns were much cooler Bro. As for waiting patiently to take pics without tourists… what the hell else do you have to do? So if I send you the money, will you go blow up that cow with the rocket launcher? That’s a pic I’d totally pay for!
