A whale of a tale

Exmouth ….. a little town, with a very big reef. Rushing north to this small town in hopes of catching the very end of the Whale Shark season, it was time to hop back into the water. Having friends working in the area I’ve been able to do and see some pretty cool things this place has to offer for a margin the price!

Arriving about 3 weeks late for the whale shark season, expectations were low. Well not that they are ever really high, but they were extra low. If I can get into the water, and just hanging out with friends is good enough. I got a weee bit more than that.

I was able to make it on a Whale watching tour, Whale shark tour, and dove the local site twice.

Whale watching tour: Watched migrating humpback whales cruising up and down the coast, snorkeled the local sites, and tanned on the front of a boat. ….. Oh did I mention snorkeled with 3 humpback whales? Yeah, you know, did that too. Haha Technically your not allowed to snorkel with them, but if your snorkeling and they swim by you…. All good! Having a whale swim 5 meters from your face is, well, neat.

Whale shark tour: See whale watching tour. Except replace humpback whale for Whale Shark. It was so lucky one was out that day since it had been about 2 weeks since the last one was spotted. So again, neat.

Navy Pier(local dive site): Nice dive with a couple of new things I can check off the list: Wobbegong Shark, Gray Nurse Shark, Toad Fish, and a couple more. 20deg water was a bit of a difference from the 29 I’m use to though.

Aside from that it was just hanging out with friends. Went out 4x4ing to check out a few caves. Also rented a boat and got to swim with more whales and a MANTA Ray too! Such is my hard life…

Sadly its time to find me some work…. Man I’m poor…. Sigh … wish me luck….
